Thayammal Middle School

Thayammal Middle School is located at Kulasekaranpatnam, Thoothukudi District, Tamilnadu.

The school aims
a. To educate the girls and boys of this little coastal village.
b. To enable them to lead disciplined lives and contribute to the upliftment of their families and society.

The school was started in 1904. The school offers courses in Tamil and English medium, conforming to the Government syllabus for classes from I to VIII standards. The school has an able faculty of 9 teaching and non teaching staff members educating around 221 students annually.

The school encourages its students to actively participate in various extra-curricular activities, including the following.
1.Sports – Kabaddi, volleyball, athletics
2.Oratorical, drawing and essay competitions
3.Recitation competitions in Thevaram, Thiruvasagam, Thirukkural, etc

Students go on regular marches through the village, creating awareness amongst the public on the evils of tobacco, open defecation and the need for toilets in every home, the harm caused by plastics, prevention of AIDS, etc. The students also help the village administration by creating awareness amongst the public about the importance of voting during elections. The school has an active Parent-Teacher Association.
